Training courses
available at Foxes Riding School In conjunction with Horse Power
Training & Myerscough College Foxes Riding School, Horse Power Training &
Myerscough College are working in partnership to unite the benefits of
college and commercial riding centre training through the launch of a
totally new training concept. Dual Equine Qualification (D.E.Q.)
training combines the quality and standards of both the National
Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) and the commercially recognised BHS
Stages qualifications. D.E.Q. Training… This unique and innovative training concept has
been designed to be user friendly by eliminating the need for lots of
paper-based assessments. Candidates will be assessed using the latest
video and audio technology with evidence complied and stored
electronically on their behalf by the training provider. This totally
unique concept will improve the efficiency of the candidate assessment,
allowing more time to be spent on skills development, training and
commercial awareness. Where can I train? Candidates will only be able to access this
training through Horse Power Centres of Excellence of which Foxes Riding
School is proud to be included as one. Am I eligible for D.E.Q. training? D.E.Q. is available for anyone who is 16-65
years old and not taking part in fulltime education. Candidates do not
require any previous equine qualifications but must have a strong
interest in horses and a good basic standard of riding. A willingness to
gain further knowledge and skills in the equine industry is essential. When can I start? Candidates can start training at regular
intervals during the year, after attending an interview and undertaking
an initial assessment with a member of the Horse Power Training Team. How does it work? Candidates attend Foxes Riding School to
undertake D.E.Q. training and assessment. Each candidate has an
allocated work based assessor to carry out assessments, provide support
to both candidate and trainer, and to ensure that the welfare and health
and safety needs of staff and students are being met. Each candidate
will work towards and individual learning plan accounting for varying
ability levels and experience, on average it will take 12 months to
complete the D.E.Q. training programme. How much will it cost me? The cost is free to the student, including all
your training and examination fees. What qualifications will I attain? NVQ 2 in Horse Care and British Horse Society
Stage 2. How many hours and days will I attend? You will be classed as a full time student (eg.
6 hrs training, 18hrs practical yard work and 6 hrs home study per week)
all of which can be tailored to suit your individual needs as more
training can be provided depending on the individuals requirements. Please ring Foxes Riding School on 0151 339
